On July 15, 2021, New Shire's Department Of Transportation begin shutting down several highways, thruways, and exits for road construction. On July 20, 2021, work commenced on several of the highways, to meet the requirements outlined in New Shire State, Department Of Transportation Road Safety Commission. Interstate 890 East and West are no longer open and alternative as well as detour routes have been established. No travel is permitted passed Exit 1(To I 890 South) on Interstate 890 East. Several Detours have been established for Westbound Traffic.

On August 15, 2021, Portions Of I 890 South will be closed between 9:00 PM and 12:00 AM due to crews removing old exit pavement and performing construction on exits and overpasses.
